Under the direction of an administrator or manager, directs the outreach and recruitment of prospective students; partners with departments across the college, including but not limited to Counseling and Advising, Financial Aid, Admissions and Records, and Academic Affairs Offices; coordinates the development of program objectives and guidelines in compliance with applicable federal and state guidelines and District policies and procedures.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices. Essential responsibilities are designated by *.


  • Recruits and retains international and other non-resident students; recruits and retains California resident students. *
  • Participates in the annual planning and development of the recruitment calendar of college activities and special events. *
  • Communicates with prospective students through various modalities including but not limited to telephone, email, US Postal Services, videoconferencing, test messaging and in person at college recruitment and outreach fairs, special events, and high schools. *
  • Coordinates and attends local fairs, special events, and activities throughout California; partners with internal staff and departments on campus to volunteer or assist during special events, as needed. *
  • Tracks student inquiries and college responses; completes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports related to and required by the area of assignment. *
  • Visits community high schools in the District to encourage ongoing relationships and provide continued and ongoing support to prospective students; serves as the liaison and information resource between the college, high schools, students, parents, administrators, staff, faculty, and the public/community. *
  • Assists with planning and coordinating campus recruitment and retention events, including but not limited to 8th Grade Inspiration Day, Preview Day, Kinder College Day, Summer Bridge, and other special events supported by the Outreach and Retention Department. *
  • Plans, coordinates, and schedules college tours for individual students and District community high schools. *
  • Coordinates the outreach and recruitment activities of new students from inquiry to enrollment. *
  • Creates, updates, maintains, and approves college recruitment and marketing collateral; assists other college departments in the distribution of their department and/or program materials at outreach and special events. *
  • Partners with Weblinks to maintain appropriate webpages on the assigned website for outreach, retention, reviews, updates, and recommends webpage changes and information, as needed. *
  • Oversees program inventory of equipment, supplies, and materials; makes appropriate purchases of promotional materials for special events. *
  • Partners with Public Relations to post information to the District’s social media platforms; reviews and verifies information to ensure accuracy of information prior to posting. *
  • Oversees, trains and supervises Student Ambassadors. *
  • Supervises, evaluates and provides work direction to assigned classified staff, student workers, student assistants, and short-term, temporary staff. *
  • Receives and responds to issues, conflicts, and discrepancies; makes appropriate changes and/or responds as appropriate. *
  • Participates in the annual budget planning processes; plans, prepares, and administers assigned annual budgets related to the area of assignment; reviews and verifies budget expenditures; prepares recommendations and justifications related to budget requests; directs additional funding forecasts for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; implements mid-year budget adjustments, transfers, and augmentations; authorizes and monitors expenditures and purchases of equipment and supplies; monitors staffing budget as needed. *
  • Participates in and attends a variety of district and/or college committees such as participatory governance committees, meetings, professional organizations, trainings, workshops, special events, and professional development opportunities, as appropriate; participates in the District’s accreditation process. *
  • Performs related duties that support the overall objective of the position.

 

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, human resources, or related discipline; AND
  • Two (2) years of experience in recruitment, marketing, account management, public relations, customer relations, or related environment;
    OR
  • Any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in a recruitment setting and familiarity with basic recruitment, enrollment, and financial aid procedures.
  • Experience in public relations or marketing.
  • Experience with federal international student requirements (VISAs).
  • Experience working with K-12 schools or other educational partners.
  • Experience with California Community Colleges.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Possession of or an ability to obtain a valid driver license, if driving is required as an essential responsibility of the position.
  • Some travel for various off-site meetings, trainings, conferences, workshops, and/or events in support of the overall objective of the position.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this classification, employees are regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time; talk or hear in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel, operate personal computers and other standard office equipment; and reach with hands and arms; bend at the waist, kneel, or crouch to file materials.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to distinguish basic shades and colors, and the ability to adjust focus.

Employees are frequently required to walk and stand and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Mental Demands
