Summary of Position

Red Rocks Community College is seeking a experienced professional to fill the role of Director of International Student Services. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in advancing RRCC's internationalization goals and objectives, fostering partnerships with higher education institutions locally and globally, and providing leadership in the development and implementation of internationalization strategies. The Director provides vision, leadership, and oversight for campus wide internationalization and for the global engagement of the college. Leads, manages, and directs International Student Services and Programs in all matters related to federal immigration regulation for Red Rocks Community College. The Director provides vision, leadership, and oversight in facing the challenges of complying with federal immigration law and mandatory government reporting requirements as well as programming for international students. The Director provides oversight for the Passport Program/Office. The Director serves as an advocate for international education at RRCC, CCCS, and the state of Colorado.


Essential Responsibilities

Internationalization:


  • Promote and advance RRCC’s internationalization goals through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate strategic planning for internationalization and lead the development and implementation of initiatives.
  • Establish partnerships with higher education institutions locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Expand Study Abroad, Global Education, and Innovations Institute programs in line with RRCC's internationalization objectives.
  • Develop and implement a strategic marketing plan to support internationalization efforts.
  • Analyze trends in international education and provide guidance to RRCC based on upcoming trends.
  • Collaborate with external agencies such as Study Colorado, NAFSA, and ACE to enhance RRCC's internationalization efforts.
CRM (Customer Relationship Management):
  • Work with Admissions to review CRM reports and facilitate the admission process for international students.
  • Provide personalized support to international students throughout the admission process.
  • Coordinate with Admissions and Recruiting to enhance automated messaging and campaigns for international students.
Study Abroad:
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs to plan faculty-led study abroad programs.
  • Assist students in researching, planning, and applying for study abroad opportunities.
  • Support students in applying for study abroad scholarships such as Gilman and Fulbright.
Supervision:
  • Provide leadership and supervision to ISS&P staff, ensuring efficient departmental operations.
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff to ensure clarity and efficiency in processes.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for staff to stay updated on best practices.
  • Anticipate future trends and develop recommendations for departmental practices.
Finances and Management:
  • Monitor and maintain financial operations of ISS&P, including annual and multi-annual budgets.
  • Produce annual business reports and develop strategic plans for the department.
  • Oversee the Passport Facility, including hiring, training, and scheduling passport acceptance agents.
  • Seek and secure business opportunities related to international education to enhance departmental revenue streams.
Primary Designated School Official (PDSO):
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of immigration law and policies pertaining to international students.
  • Ensure compliance with immigration regulations and SEVP reporting requirements.
  • Develop relationships with government officials and non-US embassies to support international students.
  • Oversee SEVP reporting and record maintenance as it pertains to RRCC.
ESL Program:
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs to assess and enroll ESL students.
  • Monitor student progress and ensure compliance with SEVP regulations.
  • Market the ESL program locally and globally to attract students.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in international education, International Business, International Law or related.

  • Three years of experience as a DSO or with Immigration regulations as they pertain to international students.
  • Experience with English language acquisition/ Intensive ESL programs
  • Relevant work experience with multicultural populations, and supervision of professional staff in a variety of roles including instruction.
  • Budget management experience.

Education/Experience Substitution (if applicable): A combination of education and directly related technical/professional work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Years of experience is in addition to any required years of experience for the position. Part time experience will be prorated.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in international education, International Business, International Law or related.
  • Two years of work experience across intergovernmental agencies/ profit/non-profit businesses (one of which must be international experience (beyond tourist travel))
  • Experience working with very detailed/ sensitive documents.
  • Experience in a decision-making role (regulatory interpretation)
  • Crisis management experience (abrupt regulatory changes, personal crises- students).
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse communities and supporting the success of individuals from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
 
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to work from campus (primarily our Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus). Understanding of Business Systems/ accounting/ business development.

 
Physical and Cognitive Demands: The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
  • This position operates in a standard office and/or classroom environment. Constantly uses a computer and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc. Requires the repetitious movement of hands, wrists, arms.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports equipment and supplies weighing up to 10 lbs.

Starting Salary: Starting salary is determined by education and experience in accordance with our compensation plan.
