DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health is seeking a skilled and experienced Neonatal Respiratory Care Manager to oversee both Hillcrest and Jacobs Medical Center locations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the competency, education, and clinical practice for a highly specialized team dedicated to neonatal respiratory care. Our facility is a leader in providing comprehensive neonatal care in a large, complex healthcare setting. Responsibilities:

  • Manage respiratory care supervisors and staff to achieve departmental objectives, including quality, engagement, and fiscal outcomes.
  • Utilize knowledge of chronic respiratory diseases to provide specialized care in the neonatal setting including invasive and noninvasive monitoring and critical diagnostic procedures.Oversee departmental operations to ensure efficiency, compliance, and optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Neonatology, education, nursing, and laboratory services to align neonatal care with evidence-based practices and evolving research.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest technology, make budgetary recommendations, and influence change.
  • Manage the neonatal blood gas lab and program, coordinate the Neonatal Resuscitation Program for multiple internal clinical groups, oversee the specialized ventilator fleet, and support the EEG monitoring program for neonates.
  • Monitor patient care plans, progress, and outcomes to ensure quality clinical services.Independently resolve compliance issues within the scope of the Respiratory Care Manager and organizational policies.
  • Utilizes exceptional written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated through clear and concise communication with peers, patients, physicians, nurses, multidisciplinary team members, senior management, and assigned staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related specialty.

  • Three (3) years or more of relevant clinical experience.

  • Two (2) years or more of relevant leadership experience.

  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the state of California.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certified.

  • Experience in neonatal respiratory care in a large, complex healthcare setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to improve clinical outcomes and departmental operations.

  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies in the cardiopulmonary industry.

  • Leadership skills to motivate, coach, and resolve conflicts.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a challenging environment.

  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certification in neonatal respiratory care (Neonatal Pediatric Specialty, RRT-NPS).

  • Experience working in an obstetric delivery room setting within an academic medical center.

  • Experience with advanced clinical information systems.

  • Certified NRP Instructor.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,200 - $192,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.47 - $92.05

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
